چکیده

In a recent experiment [2], Uiberacker et al. exposed neon atoms to a phase-stabilized fewcycle infrared (IR) laser field and a synchronized attosecond XUV pulse. The XUV pulse leads to single ionization of the Ne atom and the creation of excited (shake-up) states in the residual Ne ion. The IR pulse can then further ionize the Ne ion, thus serving as a probe for the quantum state of the singly ionized ion. By monitoring the yield of doubly charged Ne ions as a function of the time delay between the two pulses the (ionization) dynamics of the electronic wave packet created by the XUV pulse can thus be studied.

Characterization of attosecond XUV pulses utilizing a broadband UV ~ VUV pumping

We propose a simple scheme to characterize attosecond extreme ultraviolet (XUV) pulses. A broadband ultraviolet (UV) ∼ vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) pump pulse creates a coherent superposition of atomic bound states, from which photoionization takes place by the time-delayed attosecond XUV probe pulse. Information on the spectral phase of the XUV pulse can be extracted from the phase offset of the i...

Generation of Attosecond Light Pulses from Gas and Solid State Media

Real-time observation of ultrafast dynamics in the microcosm is a fundamental approach for understanding the internal evolution of physical, chemical and biological systems. Tools for tracing such dynamics are flashes of light with duration comparable to or shorter than the characteristic evolution times of the system under investigation. While femtosecond (fs) pulses are successfully used to i...

Coherent amplification of attosecond light pulses in the water-window spectral region.

We present a theoretical study on coherent extreme ultraviolet (XUV) attosecond pulse amplification mediated by nonlinear parametric enhanced forward scattering occurring in the interaction of a strong femtosecond infrared (IR) laser pulse combined with a weak attosecond XUV pulse train with an atom. We predict large amplification of XUV radiation when the IR strong pulse and the XUV weak pulse...

Measurement of attosecond XUV pulses generated with polarization gating by two-dimensional photoelectron spectroscopy

We report on our high speed camera designed for temporal characterization of attosecond pulses (1as =10s) generated with the polarization gating technique. The uniform external magnetic field applied on the timeof-flight spectrometer enlarges the acceptance angle (up to 65 for ~20-eV photoelectrons). By collecting twodimensional momentum images of the photoelectrons, which are ejected by the XU...
